Let me refresh everyone. USUM was planned years ago. The storyline actually began in ORAS.
Looker mysteriously ends up at the Battle Resort with amnesia. A place loaded with things and people talking about the future Battle Frontier.
In SM, we see Looker with his new boss, Salon Maiden Anabel. She came to Alola mysteriously with amnesia. These two incidents are 100% connected. Her theme was even the original Frontier Brain theme.
I would have understood blowing off GF for hinting to the BF in only ORAS. But to hint at the BF two years later in SM, right before USUM went into production, well...
For USUM, I have no doubt the Looker/Anabel storyline will be completed. I got my eye on that huge rectangular cloud. :)
