Admit it, every day you visit /vp/ you're hoping there are a dozen threads about a leaked new Alolan form.

But it never happens. And you know deep down that USUM won't have any new Alolan form pokemon. You know you will feel the pain of the NEVER EVER ORAS Battle Frontier debacle all over again.

Unlike UBs which are going to be late game capture and immediately box kind of pokemon, alola forms might actually be useful during a playthough.

New forms build off of previous Pokemon designs and can be re-purposed for more uses on a team. A-Persian gets usage with Z-Parting Shot, for example. A-Ninetails is the best Aurora Veil setter in the game. A-Sandslash also performs very well after A-Ninetails. A-Muk is extremely popular in VGC. All of these Pokemon, barring normal Ninetails, needed some different niches after many generations of being useless.

They're not really mutually exclusive, a lot of people are rooting for both. New Alolan forms were seen as somewhat more likely to happen before we got Burst and Assembly because we'd never gotten brand new Pokémon mid-gen before, but ideally, they'd give us a little bit of both.

It was mostly more postgame stuff.

But what USUM has over those two that it sadly isn't taking advantage of, is the Alolan forms and mega evolutions. Two mechanics that can change up the content Pokemon-wise, and GF is squandering them.

And USM have surfing, photo booths, new areas, new characters, new Z-moves, new Pokemon (not just new forms), and based off the anime, we'll most likely have a brand new Battle facility where we can challenge gym leaders from the older games.

My whole first point was that I compared USUM to Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum rather than BW2 or ORAS. Because that's what they are just the 3rd version.

And we don't know anything at all about the post game yet.

That's what really annoys me - UBs are, at best, pokemon to collect in the post game.

And the only pokemon you can truly get entertainment value from are the basic bitch routemons that you can train and evolve throughout the main campaign. It's much better to get some new Alola Form mons than a few new legendaries.

It gives older Pokemon more attention, fleshes them out, and can give them new uses. I'd rather deepen or improve an existing Pokemon than get brand new end-game Legendaries part way through a Generation.

Sorry I've been playing pokemon from the start, as I've said later in the board I was being sarcastic saying that they're pretty much the same as Emerald and Platinum so far and all the complaining is from young new people who started with BW2 or think ORAS is a third version remake.
