To an extent, this is still the case. Tyranitar is still better off with Fire Blast than Fire Punch when it comes time to hit Skarmory and Ferroseed. It's just that more thought has to go into what this move is for.
Honestly, Band was putting mixed to bed already in gen 3, and the inclusion of specs in 4th just finished the job.
>>33716065No. The only moves that I would say do not make a pokemon mixed are Rapid Spin, VoltTurn, Nuzzle, and Fake Out. These are the moves that you would still reasonably run on a 0Ev, hindering nature pokemon. Everything else would make a mixed attacker. This has always been the case. Even in gen 3, pokemon would heavily prioritize one over the other, and use their off-stat for crucial coverage or for a gimmick.
