I don't dislike it as a region hugely, I just find it boring to play because there weren't enough new Pokemon to use, not once you've done a couple of playthroughs. But at least there's a plethora of viable gen I-V mons

Glad to hear you enjoyed it as much as you did! Might I ask how you feel about the inclusion of Fairy type? That kinda gives me a bit of bias, honestly, since fairy is kinda tied for my favorite type with Psychic, right above Steel.

Also, gen 6 as a whole is nostalgiabias for me since Sapphire was my favorite Pokemon game and they remade it WITH FAIRY TYPES and with incredible features like Super Training and DexNav.

Sorry, just gushing because I fucking love this gen.

Fairy is fine, but some of the new fairies were of questionable design. Slurrfuff/spritzee lines were awful. I woulda called it light type tho.

Dexnav, super training and amie are all goat additions. 'Frontier project has started' was a slap to the face with no excuse or explanation.

Agreed, though I find that the good designs in gen 6 are VERY good, and definitely outweigh the bad for me. It's a shame though that the starters were kinda disappointing. Fennekin was my first first-pick fire starter, but I was kinda disappointed with Delphox's design.

xy have a lot of balance problem even without xp share, but you can somewhat play around it and the region is really enjoyable
it's far from perfect, but i can easily see its potential and understand how someone can love it even in its actual state

And it doesn't matter that the solution to some of the things I pointed out is "just don't use it." Not only do I dislike that these options are present to begin with, these are unavoidable, pushed on you by the game, and effortless to attain with no sense of accomplishment.

X and Y are enjoyable and not without pros. But they have so much more bringing them down than other generations.

In gen 1 you had starters as the only free mon
All the others you had to go out of your way to get (including the starters in yellow) except for lapras and even then he didn't walk up to you and interrupt the game.

Sun and Moon have made me realize how much we it had going on in those games. So many great features and amenities that suddenly went missing.

XY are probably the best vanilla Pokemon games to replay now due to how large the Pokemon diversity is, which means that you can play through the game with a completely different team each time. No other game comes close to having the same amount of Pokemon available from the very start. BW2 and SM are the next best with around 300 Pokemon available, but BW2 lacks online (which makes trade evolutions and exclusives impossible without a second system/game) while SM has a bunch of unskippable cutscenes that makes subsequent playthroughs a chore. ORAS would have been even better at this if it had given you the national dex from the very start and let you have access to all the DexNav exclusive Pokemon, although that also has wi-fi trading and Bank compatibility so that makes it somewhat better.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who enjoyed XY. I have a total of ~1300 hours of gameplay time in my X version, mostly due to the fixed online, EV training and breeding mechanics as well as the addition of Pokebank. After the main story I started Friend Safari hunting, teambuilding (breeding and training), breaking my records in Battle Maison (my goal was to get a 100+ streak in all formats which I eventually managed to do), fighting at Battle Spot, having Multi and 1v1 battles with people from /wfg/, building a livedex and so on and the hours just kept racking up. XY are not even my favorite Pokemon games but I still have the most hours in them since they got me into competitive playing.

Aside from everything that I just mentioned, I love both the region and the Gen VI Pokemon and the amount of new and old Mons that you can find early in the game. Sure the games have their issues like the shitty rivals and most of the gyms being too easy but the overall package is excellent nonetheless and I still love replaying these games.
