Overall I like a good chunk of the designs but most of them just don't do it for me, I really like the overworld, it's appearance and mechanics but the battle system just isn't very fun and actually befriending yokai is comfusing if you don't have a guide.

It has a lot of potentially good ideas and a expansive franchise to support them, but they never fully show more of them individually and instead focuses too narrowly on the smallest denominator factors for both the kid audience and the gamer audience. I really liked it from the first season and game because of how simple it was yet still focused on what it tries to do, then it all crashes as soon as it plays far out of its hands, and I end up feeling some distaste and forget about it occasionally.

Imagineer still has the rights as always and is putting out that collection of the first five games from GB/GBC on 3DS with bonus features this Winter, it's just the development team for the mainline 3DS games who did 7~9, Delta Arts, went bankrupt, and Imagineer closed down their publishing subsidiary since 2005, Rocket Company.
