I think 6 and 7's way of doing things is pretty dang promising

although if there's one thing I miss, it's Pokemon that aren't based on any specific thing and are more or less based on ambiguous monsters, such as things like Magmar, Electabuzz, Exploud, etc. The only recent one we've had is Aromatisse.

OP here, the image I found in some other thread sometime last year which linked back to tumblr. It's just someone testing out modeling and animating their fakemon and not indicative of a 3D fangame or anything. I just picked it for the OP image cause it's not a Pokemon from any generation and it was near the top of my downloads folder.

Gen 7 was the most consistent in terms of quality, with Gen 3 being a close second. 4 and 5 have some of my favorite Pokémon designs, but are much more of a mixed bag. Gen 2 is the worst overall, with only like four designs I actually like.

I'm the same way, but Silvally and Drampa kind of fill that gap for me. Drampa has that 90s monster kind of feel, and I know Silvally is a chimera but it just feels like its own new kind of monster.

Holy fuck, /vp/ is full of some eldritch combination of newfags, waifumonfags, and just regular old folks with shit taste. Gen 7 has, on aggregate, the worst designs of the series (though gen 3 is pretty bad, too -- of course the braintrust at /vp/'s even placed that well above gens 1 and 2). At least gen 5 is also number one.
