>>33734328I get the impression that this is what the majority of people feel but the perceived majority, the people who are the most vocal will change, and that's really the only result we could ever see. Personally I've felt the same about XY, probably only second to DP as the worst first version when speaking of relative standards, in absolute terms the older generations don't hold up that well, while they do maintain some key elements that I feel that newer generations could learn from. XY had a lot of potential but most of it was wasted in the original version and the lack of a complete edition gives serious credibility to the argument that Gen 6 is the worst generation (overall). I was also very careful not to let /vp/ influence my opinion of SM.
Despite what I said about Gen 6 I think I was way too hard on ORAS when it came out and I think it is currently the best of the 3DS games, that isn't saying much. But USUM could give it a run for its money. ORAS's main issues were leaving out small but crucial improvements from Emerald that had no reason to not be included like trainer teams and gym leader rematches, and the BF. Not the fact that is wasn't there, but the way that they handled it was bad. Other than that ORAS did a lot right and they didn't fuck up what made RS good, but it was almost as if Emerald was completely retconned was the main problem. Before anyone goes on about them being RS remakes, the whole point of the last two remakes was to make a third version redundant by just adding all of the content from the original. ORAS should have done that while retaining the RS theme like HGSS did, and that's the issue.
