That was unexpected, it looks anything but a Ghost type. Fire type was actually kind of pondered upon because of the whole fireworks thing but still.

It'll go straight into the "looks nothing like its typing" pile alongside Decidueye, that's for sure.

the problem is that one is a fantastic physical attacker and the other is a fantastic special attacker. No matter which way burst turns out, it'll either cuck one of those two or get cucked by one of those two.

Literally every single creature in Celtic folklore was "fairy", it basically was a word for anything supernatural. Doesn't mean that every being from this culture should be mindlessly assigned Fairy type.

I don' think Fairy really was that catch-all, you are being reductive here. It was specifically an Unseelie Fairy; when you combine this with its clown-like aspects Fairy feels totally a shoe in, evidently not.

FUCK GAMEFREAK! Why the fuck did they make it Rock/Steel??? Missed the chance of having a unique Rock/Ghost or, considering its description on the official site, have a different Rock/Psychic that is not a meteorite. Hell, even pure Rock would be better.
As for Burst, Fire/Ghost is kinda boring. Sure, we only have 2 more Fire/Ghost mons, but they're good. What we could have had instead was either a unique Fire/Fairy or a better Fire/Psychic mon because while Victini is decent, Delphox and Zen Mode Darmanitan are shit.
And then, Assembly being Rock/Psychic and Burst being Fire/Psychic (or even Burst keeping its type and Assembly being Rock/Ghost) would even keep the whole "exclusive UBs share at least one type" thing that Pheromosa/Buzzwole and Celesteela/Kartana had.
God fucking damn this shit!

I wholeheartedly agree Fire/Fairy would have been so much more hype and (and I feel) just fit better, otherwise its just a second/third horse in the race of Ghost/Fire. The way it is as Fire/Fairy its okay, I really want to like it more than I do though and yeah, Gamefreak's sense of typing is so lame sometimes.

I could easily see that, though I think Shiny locks tend to be removed only in a new generation. I wonder if the new ones will inherit the old ones' role as vaguely roaming Pokemon or if they'll have their own home dimensions?
