I was on the boat that truly believed USUM were going to be lackluster dissapointments, but now I'm leaning towards the suggestion that GF really was keeping the info everyone wanted until the last month.

Yes, let's assume I only like alola forms because the creators (not me) decided to focus on just gen 1 mons? That was one of the things that annoyed me. But I liked the concept.

They now have Alolan forms, and Megas, even if the latter will be on he backburner until possibly next Gen.
That's the initial reason for the dissapointment: GF has now introduced two mechanics that add new spins on older Pokemon, essentially giving us something to look foward to midgen on par with expecting new Pokemon in a new Gen. But until they reveal there will be new Alolan forms, GF is squandering this untapped potential

Because a "joke" about not enough people buying ice vulpix toys shouldn't equate to a brand new (well-received, btw) concept involving more than just ice vulpix? I can't do another pokemon game where I'm watching a movie. The handholding and lack of direct control in this game killed ever even replaying SM for me. GF also should learn how to add appropriate emotions to the player characters. It takes me out of the moment when something important is going on and the camera pans in on my characters face and they just have this vacant doll thousand yard stare. No matter if it's picking your first pokemon to beating a trail or team skull, or even facing off against the e4 or your friends psycho mom the face never changes, yet GF insists on panning over your characters face. The NPC have reactions it makes no sense as to why the player is excluded. If you are going to make the game into a fucking movie then by god fine tune your damn craft.
