Will ultimately depend on what legendaries are catchable in the games. If there's Landorus and Thundurus, we can kiss fun goodbye. Heatran isn't ideal either but at least might discourage the Tapus.

As for megas, none of them got any major new tricks in Sun and Moon besides the speed mechanic changing. That'll help almost all of them (except Garchomp and Sableye) so it'll be interesting to see how they go. Mega Kangaskhan suffers with the Parental Bond nerf and loss of Power Up Punch, might be nowhere near as influential. I predict most teams will be double Tapu + Mega Salamence

in gen 7, the speed after you mega is used to decide the turn order. before it was your speed prior to mega evolving.

In Gen VI, speed order was determined before mega evolution. So Prankster Sableye mega evolving and using Will O Wisp would have priority of +1. Now it is determined after mega evolving - Mega Sableye likely goes last.

For most megas that gained speed, in Gen VI they had to protect before attacking - Beedrill, for example would be still relying in its Non-mega speed for that first turn. Now it has its mega speed as soon as it mega evolves, allowing it to do whatever it wants.

Having played BSD for a while, thundurus is nowhere after the prankster nerf and paralysis nerf. Zapdos is the new flying electric mon as it has tailwind. Kang Zapdos Fini Landorus is the core to beat.

Don't know how many of the BSD legends will make it into USUM and thus VGC18, but if it's at all similar then VGC18 will be pretty diverse and fun.

Oh I don't know dont know I forgot Zard Y, it's also pretty common, the whole Zard Y +Chlorophyll Venusaur is especially good now that you have tapus everywhere.

Double electric is just a bit predictable really, although I can see Manectric being fun on an intimidate-cycling colt turn combo with Landorus-T and Persian.

Hell I'm not even arguing that Manectric would be a great choice (especially when you have beasts like Gengar, Mence and Kang even after the nerf running wild), just that it could be a viable combo

Zapdos has always been good, I find it less problematic than Thundurus because of its lower speed. But you're right, the Prankster and Para nerfs should fix thundurus.

It was one of those wins that i felt like i deserved too and not just because my oponent choked. It was his arcanine against my 1/3rd hp celesteela and a dazzling gleam locked koko. If I protected and didn't leech seed, I would have lost.

The real problem is that people like getting 45 seconds turns even when playing offensive, because of course they want to plan their turn for the best. Now good luck with that since if you do so you have like 7 full turns.
And I'm glad I'm not a commentator because now people will play faster because of that reason.

What I hate of Lando-T and Cress is not the fact I see them everywhere, it's the fact you have pretty much zero reason to use any other ground or support pokémon that isn't named Amoongus when they're around.
Heatran is less offensive, but yeah you still need to think twice on why you want to run another fire type

Honestly I think Heatran is the cure to a lot of the cancer in VGC17 - Arcanine, most Tapus, Celesteela so it won't be so bad. Plus, Z-Earthquake giving Pokemon a single targeted ground move that can hit through protect will keep it in check. I know Heatran runs bulk, but this is impressive

On the current Doubles ladder Heatran never even breaks the top 10. It's still a complete Zard-Y/Land-T shitfest with varying flavours of Tapu but mainly Fini.

Thundurus is dead and far as Prankster goes Whimsicott is king again. THE core to beat is Fini/Land-T/Kang who mess up things right and left.

From what I've seen Bulu + Heatran tends to be an extension of M-Mence/T-Tar. It's more like M-Mence/T-Tar/Bulu is the actual core with Heatran as an after thought.

Alolan Raichu does well in two terrains Psychic terrain helps it out as well that's why the better Alolan Raichu teams had Koko/Alochu/Lele as a core.

Alolan Raichu has a vast array of suppose moves Fake out, Encore, Nuzzle and more to come with move tutors. It's not bad at all without electric terrain.

Try learning VGC first, a better mega to pair with Koko is Mega Sceptile who like Raichu enjoys two different terrains and beats Fini while getting rid of any ground type.
