Starting yet another run on randomized Heart Gold after being cucked by rng before the first badge last three times and I have a choice of Caterpie, Misdreavus and Riolu for starter. First one is off the charts since it won't survive a day but the other two are tempting. Let the digits decide, 0-4 for Misdreavus, 5-9 for Riolu.

Fuck, I need to evolve it quickly. Good thing it knows QA. Nature is pretty bad too, luckily doesn't really matter in game.

The one that crashed and burned on a low level dragon rage/speed boost Garchomp, yes.

Mixed feelings about this one. Riolu gets Quick Attack and Counter, which are both unaffected by Stall and Foresight to not get walled by ghosts, so it's ok, Silver with his mighty Pressure Caterpie was a laugh and on the three routes next to Cherrygrove I got a Honey Gather Wooper. That's it. Ability is shit again (luckily it changes with evolution) and I couldn't risk trying to catch the other two encounters - Yanmega and Staraptor - because they would both fucking kill me and rape the corpse if I stayed to weaken them. So two first stage mons out of possible 4, both with negative/useless abilities but a lot of potential if they survive. Hope dark cave will be more generous.

I'm still fucking pissed about being cucked out of a Pure Power Gallade last time.

Bumping with some progress. Erika went down, although her Victreebel's razor leaf would have done a number on me if It'd used it more than once. It spent all its time poisoning me then wrapping. Wondering what I should pick up from the game corner and if I'm going to replace anything. At some point, I want to grab a Goldeen or other not very good water type where it'd be really bad outside of gen 1. Seel is the other option I'm rolling around in my head, but I'm not even guaranteed one in the Seafoam islands.

Anyone have any thoughts one way or another?

Out of the pick of Sneasel, Makuhita and Onix I picked Sneasel since it replaced Chikorita, and my ID number ends with a two. I had to check to see if I remembered to randomize abilities since he has Pressure, but I was remembering wrong since Weavile has it.

Just made it to Violet City. My team is Sneasel with Pressure, Ledyba with Volt Absorb, Ralts with Frisk, Gulpin with Inner Focus and Treecko with Multitype. Only fail so far was a Moltres on the first route, which I didnt even try to catch due to my extremely low odds.

Wooper has hands down the most adorable sending out animation ever and everyone who disagrees is a shitter with no taste. Pic related. I've decided to make protecting this little guy's smile a side quest in my run so if he's not alive and kicking in the Hall of Fame, that means I failed. That's besides my usual rule of "starter's death = game over" (and before anyone suggests it no, I don't cheese by boxing or overleveling it).

And he's doing pretty well too, he was able to win with Youngster Joey's top percentage Heracross while being on the same level as it.

Managed to catch an Anticipation Weavile on route 31 and a Frisk Snubbul in Dark Cave. Yeah. Curse of shit abilities is a thing. At least everything but Weavile can grow out of it and it's not like Weavile's actual ability is top tier either.

Team stat as of entering Violet:
Alpha/Riolu M lvl. 10 Brave nature Quick Attack/Foresight/Endure/Counter, Stall
Bravo/Wooper M lvl. 7 Adamant nature Water Gun/Tail Whip/Mud Sport, Honey Gather
Charlie/Weavile M lvl. 7 Lax nature Scratch/Leer/Taunt/Quick Attack, Anticipation
Delta/ Snubbul F lvl. 5 Calm nature Tackle/Scary Face/Tail Whip/Charm, Frisk

Yeah, natures are shit. Not that it actually matters. And Riolu is overleveled despite what I said earlier, because I needed it to wall a dragon-training bug catcher's Giratina and Dialga. Good thing they were low level. It's the first time ever I actually needed that Foresight on anything.

Sprout Tower specialised in rock types and was relatively easy. First encounter was a Dratini but it kept breaking out and wrapping Delta so I had to finish it off before it finished her.

Falkner's gym was electric type and would be piss easy... Except Falkner's ace was an Elekid. I used Weavile, since it was a level below the others and the fucker had Low Kick.
RIP Charlie the Weavile lvl. 3-11.

Other than than got the egg (considered Violet city encounter), critted the Bibarel in Ruins of Alph and ran out of balls on Route 32 Scizor. At this point my mons are going to be so fucking overleveled that it beats the purpose of nuzlocke, but whatever, I have some more routes before Azalea at the very least.

Asking again in this thread because why not. Do you guys think fishing in the Cerulean gym in RB is a valid encounter for Cerulean? On the one hand, it seems more like a bug than intended, but on the other, it's basically impossible to get anything there otherwise (outside of Jynx).

Playing a Pokemon Insurgence Egglocke using the eggs the game randomly generates. Going in blind and its pretty good for the most part so far. Just finshed kicking Nora's ass in Midna Town in the tourney and catching Huxley and Steve on the subsequent routes

Nah it's not randomized. Always want to play the game normally first time through.
Also successfully beat the first gym leader without any casualties. His Ivysaur was a royal pain but we managed somehow. Brought in Raticate as a revenge killer should things go south but ended up not needing to use him.

How far do you usually go with your restrictions?
Right now I'm doing a run with

And I think it works quite well with all trainer pokemon randomised to similar strength. It feels a little too easy if you know for sure what you will face. I'd say this is around the difficulty I'm enjoying at the moment.

Welp we made it to Metchi Town but not without some losses along the way.
Amanita the Foongus was the unfortunate recipient of a 5-turn Rollout and Huxley fell to Nora's Celebi's ancient power.

Thankfully the secret base apparently has a level trainer so we grinded up some new recruits in no time!

Quick update: Reached Azalea. Got a Natural Cure Quilava in Union Cave and a Hyper Cutter Nosepass on the route below, whatever the number was. Egg hatched into a non-randomed Togepi with Solar Power, might as well keep it for now. Back to full team, at the very least.

So, i just finished one of those autism nuzlock runs on Pokemon Blue. (too lazy for a template).

It was really fun though, just lost 5 pokes and they were the first 5 that i caught. (Raticate, Butterfree, Pidgeotto, Nidoqueen and Ivysaur)

Ended up retiring my 6 main pokes: Poliwrath, Victreebel, Sandslash, Electrode, Hypno and Flareon.

Flareon was by far the MVP, didn't really thought that will happen, but he saved my ass plenty of times.

I don't know how that one guy is currently playing Gold after finishing All Gen 1, i'm pretty burned out now, will think about starting Red soon.

Same. Just finished Blue (adding a couple rules like no healing items, set mode, etc). Finished with 3 deaths and retired Charizard, Nidoqueen, Lapras, Wigglytuff, Alakazam, and Jolteon. Wigglytuff ("Word") was by far my MVP, which was completely unexpected. Just started up Red.

Fuck Union Cave encounters. "Dude can't escape then crit, lmao". These assholes costed me a Togepi.

And I had to cross the cave three times cause egg hatched before Azalea and I went back to Elm. Fuck's sake. On the way I used Old rod in Cherrygrove but the Slaking I hooked just ate up my pokeball stash. Again.

On the way found some Brightpowder. Put it on a Riolu just to be a dick.

Found Onix in Slowpoke Well. Unfortunately it was at the point when everything I had would either onehit him or deal 1 damage and I was already wounded from TR fights so I had to pass. On the other hand entered Ilex Forest just to see if it's not blocked and got an Oblivious Nidoran F out of that.

Proton happens to be a Steel type trainer. He had Skarmory and Metang and managed to troll me with Metang using first turn Magnet Rise when I was trying to fight him with Wooper. Clever guy. Other than that, Rockets in the well were kinda easy.

On to the gym, which turned out to also be Steel type. Bugsy had Beldum (there was literally one trainer in the gym without that line), Forretress for the sake of tradition and Mawile. As of note, Forretress had Drizzle. That's one way to deal with a x4 weakness. Badge acquired

Guy who's running Blue atm. I haven't grinded on any wild Pokemon, just trainers. Made it to Fuschia with only 3 deaths so far, one of which was losing a low leveled mon as a replacement for another one.

Hard mode seems hard enough, and there even is a "expert" mode if that's not enough for you, i'd say give it a try for yourself and see

Question on the autismlocke rules - when Pokemon are retired, what happens when you run into them in another game? Wasted route or doesn't count?

Also, do you retire the whole family or just that specific Poke?

I think the rules just count them as a dupe encounter as if you were playing with dupe clause. As for the family question, I'm personally treating it as the whole family, except for cases of split evos, so if I retire a Slowbro, I can still use a Slowking in a different game.

Definitely not as good as last time with the encounters. First encounter was a Minum that I lost due to a crit Tackle, second encounter I caught a Horsea with Hyper Cutter, third encounter was a male Combee with Trace, third was a Slowpoke lost from a crit Tackle, and fourth was a Zapdos so I didnt even try.

Have you literally lost almost everything in your entire box and all of your other captures? That's actually impressive - even when I have a bad run, I still have loads of boxed mons. It's just most of them are shit or redundant.

OK restarted a few times. Kept rolling to release my starter then immediately wiping. Finally got a Chimchar and got a good start rolling.

Very happy with my team so far, everyone except Pikachu is level 35+ and I'm ready to keep moving forward.

Two deaths, Brandon to Monferno and Kevin the Onix. RIP.

I'm planning on Nuzlocking Ultra Sun on my first playthrough and I'm wondering if anyone's done a rule like this:
Lord Rule: Designate one early game team member (probably starter)as your Lord. If that Pokémon is killed, the whole run lost.

Did a gentoo-only randomised run of HG a little while back & those fuckers were the absolute bane of my run. Had so many close calls & a couple of losses to them that weren't screenshotted, & - because I made wild/trainer mon strength proportional to level - as I went through the game they showed up more & more as I went on, until by Kanto every other trainer was rocking one. Threw in the towel when Misty brought out TWO & murdered my MVP Heracross

Decided I wanted to finally finish Pokemon Pearl after a seven year hiatus so I guess I'm gonna do a Pearl Nuzlocke.

My rules
1. Only catch the first encounter in an area
1a. Species clause is in effect
2. Nickname everything
3. Fainted Pokemon must be boxed
4. Can only bring the same amount of Pokemon as the gym leader into a gym fight.

So I beat Red++ finally, would recommend playing the game if you're into Drayno style hacks with improved balance.

I consider a game complete by beating the Elite 4, then any other Special Trainers, and also killing all legendaries. What do you consider beating a poke game?

My final team was:

Albert the Blastoise - Never played RBY with a Squirtle before and he was great, the bilk was so good.
Georgia the Golem - Really good in game, the defense and the typing saved me plenty of times.
OK the Gengar - Blasted through things in game with that Special and teaching it Thunderbolt
Alv the Fearow - New respect for this guy, fast and strong even with a limited movepool
Ronda the Magnezone - Scared the shit out of me sometimes bc it was too flaky on def
Sim the Parasect - She was great to Spore and Giga Drain, wish it was faster, would be top mon

I'm thinking of playing an Autism lock with harder difficulty. I'd like to retire these mons.

Probably going to continue with Polished Crystal next, unless there is a better Crystal hack I should consider?
