So what's the logic behind Aggron losing its Rock type when Mega Evolving? I used to think they decided

Aron was a pure rock pokemon that added metal to it's body by eating minerals, becoming a rock with steel plating.

Mega aggron shows that's its finally become pure metal. It has consumed so much metal that there's no more rock left.

It's like if you were a cyborg slowly replacing your body with robot parts until one day you realize you're 100% robot now and there's no more human left.

Nothing about Aggron's design or lore suggests it's made out of rock.

It should have pure Steel in the first two stages, and Steel/Dragon as Aggron and Mega Aggron.

Also, this fanbase has a weird hard-on for slapping Dragon onto anything that looks big, sharp, and frightening. Dragon used to be a rare and coveted type, but you assholes went and ruined the whole damn thing.

Dragon stopped being rare in Gen IV and V when they started adding a lot more of them.

Ice is the rarest type.

Nope. As of SM there were 44 Ghost-type Pokemon and 40 Ice-type Pokemon, including forms like Alolans, Rotom, and Oricorio. With Dawn Wings Necrozma and UB Burst there are now 46 ghosts.

that has nothing to do with how rare a pokemon is. To calculate that you would need to take the average encounter rate multiplied by the average proportion of number of tiles each pokemon is available on multiplied by the total number of pokemon and I doubt anyone has the time to come up with that solution.

I think the implication is that most Steel types are just wearing a steel shell and that there's (comparatively) weaker rock underneath the surface.
