I didn't know that Electric resisted Steel until Gen VI. That's probably because no mons but those with no option like Magnezone used Steel-type offensive moves until Fairy existed.

I though Dunsparce was a Gen 5 Pokemon for the longest time. The first time I encountered one was in Black version.

I'd somehow managed to play all of the other games without seeing a Dunsparce even once.

One more I learned within the last year was the fact certain abilities have a passive overworld effect

I thought Tailwind only lasted 3 turns; apparently it got increased to 4 turns in Gen V and has been that way ever since.

Oh yeah, Pickup was more apparent since it's in game text covered it's overworld effect and I noticed the Pickup mon carrying new stuff. I didn't know it had a battle effect from Gen V on about recovering items thrown with Fling or used by Natural Gift. Typically the ability text in the game only covered one or the other: battle or overworld, hence why I mentioned Intimidate and Magnet Pull since only going by the game's text makes it seem like they only have battle effects, not overworld ones.
