How do you expect Gen 8 to sell on the Switch?

I'm expecting it to sell about 16-18M, I expect it to be a massive success for Pokemon.

I feel the jump to HD is really gonna pull some normies back in.

Sun and Moon were similar, and that was only because of the graphical overhaul. A lot of old fans came back. So yeah, I imagine the switch games will a similar, or even greater affect. They are the first Pokemon console games after all.

The pressure is really on Game Freak though, because they're going to have to try set a benchmark for how good a console game can be. If they fail to deliver, I expect a lot of backlash.

They can get away with releasing sub-par games on a handheld, but on a console, people are going to expect a real AAA title.

The main reason pokemon was successful was because it was in a cheap console ($100-$150) with cheap games ($40), most people wont make the jump to switch because it will be on a more expensive console ($300) with more expensive games ($60).

Not to mention the franchise has been getting worse and worse through the years and fans know this even though SM sales dont reflect this.

Still sold over 10m, Switch will most definitely be at least cheaper by release.

With a version with no dock or a smaller, more budget designed cheaper Switch is released.

XY launched for $40 on October 12 2013.
2DS launched for $130 on October 12 1013.
You could also get 3DS for $170 and XL for $250, when it released and soon after the prices where cut down to 100-150-200.

So if you wanted to play Pokemon XY you could get a 2DS for $130 and the game for $40.

Compare that to the $300 of the Switch with the games being priced at $60.

Now factor in the fact that SM sold to less than 1/4th the install base of the 3DS.

I can see PokemonSwitch selling to 35%-50% to the install base of Switch and that would roughly be 6m-8m games sold considering things I stated above.

That is unless Nintendo releases a cheaper Swich revision that would cost $200, but that is doubtful since they would have to cut features and it might make it incompatible with games.

And cutting down the price wont ever happen because that would mean Nintendo has to sell the console at a loss and they would never do that.

Honestly, they could sell the Switch without the dock and without the adapter (since it uses USB-C anyways) as a "purely portable" option. Even with the adapter it'd still be a much cheaper option requiring little change at all on Nintendo's side. I could see them doing this in the future.

10-20 million, depending on how innovative decide to be. It'll have tons of pre-release hype, what with being on newer hardware, but exactly how they use the hardware will make a huge difference. This is the best chance to innovate, if they don't do it now they'll loose a lot of potential sales.

I want to see Gen 8 make use of what makes the Switch unique. Not necessarily motion controls, but just something that makes it feel like it could only be on the Switch.

The dock is just a piece of plastic, it probably doesnt cost even $5 to produce.

So cutting production costs by removing dock wouldnt be feasible.

If they do it they would have to use cheaper materials (as if it already wassnt using a shit screen and plastics) or remove things like the HD rumble and such which might cause game incompatibilities.

Same, the games look plenty great to me AND they're portable on playable on TV.

I did everything for them, explained all mechanics both shiny chaining and the difference between bulky and tanky, I'm a great friend despite being impatient with bad vidya players. They were also cunts pretending to like pokemon because a lot of my school bought into it, even some of the qt girls were playing it.
