No I'm pretty sure it's genderless. And even then, it can't breed, so therefore it canonically has no gender. The only difference is the way it's 'voice' sounds.

Given we have legendaries with sex designations (Lati@s, Cresselia, Heatran) that can't breed, I don't know what else it COULD mean. Especially since the only things with unknown gender other than Legendaries are objectmon, with no biological systems at all.

Probably won't make eggs because they have very specific breeding conditions. Day care doesn't cut it. MUST be in the upper stratosphere/magma chamber of an active volcano, respectively.
Kind of like how if a Manaphy has offspring anywhere but on the frigid depths of the sea floor, like say, on land or in warm water, it's a Phione instead, because of how much they are affected by their environment.

My guess is they're all infertile because they're freaks. Cosplay Pikachu and AZ-Floette won't evolve or eviolite either. Spiky-Pichu wouldn't evolve as well, but existed before eviolite and normal pichu can't breed.

Why do they keep making these random no-GTS freaks anyway?
