I seriously suggest waiting until Ultra Sun & Moon. That's if you want to give yourself the best possible experience anyway. If you can't wait and have to buy a Pokemon game, then get X/Y or ORAS.

I still suggest waiting though.

Before dropping 70 on a game, make sure you're still into it.

Just roll with X/Y or Black/White. They're cheaper and not as grind-heavy as HG-SS (which are the most complete games). Plus, don't start at the top, start in the middle so you're not constantly disappointed after playing HG/SS
