i just started sun&moon and this is my team so far i've read every word so far so i'm what moves to put on who... so the question is do i SUCK?

Probably should have kept Disarming Voice on Popplio for coverage (instead of Work Up), but aside from that it's fine. Your final moveset should be Sparkling Aria, Moonblast, Psychic and Energy Ball/Shadow Ball.

The other two are kind of weak regardless of their moves as far as I know. Never used Alolan Raticate, though.

You're all right for now, butterfree will get you through Hala. I'd suggest getting poison powder on Butterfree, it'll help wear down the water-type totem, it's a defensive fucker.

The game will throw you a False Swipe TM soon, so you might wanna grab a user if you're gonna be trying to finish the alola dex. If not, don't bother.

You're doing alright so far. Try adding a Ground type to your team because Popplio and Butterfree are both weak to Electric attacks. I'd recommend Mudbray but he's not available until you visit the Akala island.
