Yeah when I'm a Mafia boss that did awful things for a long time, I wouldn't instantly become a good person because a kid in front of me waved his arm and a pokeball in his hand in a similar fashion to mine when I was younger.

Sure I might get some memories, but instantly gets a change of heart over a trivial thing? lol

That's too deep for pokemon though. Also nothing in Origins supports or imply that Giovani needed a push to be a good person, heck this was totally different from the games which is what Origins based on. They made this subplot for the drama but it went horribly stupid.

Anon it was a short story told over 4 episodes. Do you think they had the time to spend showing how Giovanni would have this change over time when he wasn't going to appear in the show from that point on?
Besides, it's not like anime doesn't pull this kind of shit all the time.

i remember they called muk a grass type and they made a big deal about Bruno being a fighting master somehow being a reason for him needing to catch an onix. That and the early use of TCG symbols

I don't think that's enough evidence. Most logically, it was because the writers wanted Brock to participate without having to write him getting another Pokemon. Geodude has fists so it's not the worst choice
