I think this will end up being one of those instances where gamefreak approaches a problem in the most autistic way possible. They make a scene where they have a character be followed by his starter, so in order to prevent people from hacking other mons into that scene and crashing the game, they made 805 walking animations they will not use until the next gen of games. Kinda like how the lusamine boss battle is with her pokemon and not against her, because if players hacked the battle to catch her, it would crash the game.
