Why isn't the doubles meta more popular? There's a far greater range of viable strategies and builds than there are in singles, which in turn, makes it a lot deeper.
Singles has been so fucking heavily centralized around entry hazards and u-turn/volt switch for several years now, and matches usually go for 30+ turns, which just gets tedious.
Gamefreak put doubles in for a reason; they had the good sense to realize it made for a much more interesting battle system. That being said, I get the sense people are so drawn to singles solely because set the foundation of pokemon battles, and people hate change.
