People complain that Pokemon is getting stale, so they try to spice it up by adding more story and characters, you know, give the battles a bit more context to hopefully make players more invested. The problem here is that GameFreak doesn't know how to write story and characters so what we have is polished (well, as polished as Pokemon ever has been) surrounded by doodoo, bloated, boring story and characters.
