I like the concept of megas, but the mechanics suck - sacrifice an item slot, only one per battle and the fact that not every pokemon will ever get one (AKA just the favourites will)
With Z-moves, at least every pokemon can have/use them - yes, you still sacrifice the item slot but at least lesser used/viable mons can have some sort of boost/spotlight.
