Started my first real nuzlocke just now. Vanilla Sapphire. Catch first on route, dupes clause, nicknames, release on faint. Pretty standard stuff.

Still in Birch's lab. Any major hints for gen 3? Sorta pissed that you can't actually use the name 'Sapphire' in the game of the same name.

Pickup is super busted in Sapphire, if you get a Zizagoon (really common so you probably will early) you'll get stuff like Ultra Balls, Nuggets and Rare Candies super early so make sure to keep it alive

You ain't kidding. Got 2 ultra balls already. Had to flee from a Taillow on route 103, it crit'd torchic and I couldn't risk staying. Got my Taillow killed in the first battle I had it from overestimating its ability to 1v1 a wild ziggy. Sorta a rough start. I fear for the rock gym.

TTOT: I got to Lance in a Heartgold randomizer nuzlocke, first pokemon went down easily, second pokemon was a Toxicroak. Somehow, it got 2 Nasty Plots up and one shot my entire team with Sludge Bomb.

Last update for tonight.

Got through the first gym no sweat, Shroomish is a beast with stuns, leeches and absorbs. I really underestimate these wild pokemon. Threw away my fuckin' starter to an arm-thrusting 3-crits in a row motherfucker. It's a bit tilting. Saving now before the grind for gym #2 in Dewford town.

Misty's Starmie in a Red run where I started with Charmander and did no dupes clause, so I just had no counters and no Water resists. Got murked pretty fast, because Starmie in Gen 1 with it's super high speed and therefore amazingly high crit rate is just disgusting.

Then, I was playing White 2, not even my first attempt, started with Tepig, and got basically entirely Normal and Flying mons other than Excadrill and a few other things like Purrloin. No Grass types, no other Fighting types, no Water types minus the Rock weak Ducklett. So I wiped to Clay. Pignite was left against Sandslash, and if I'd had an extra turn, I would have won.

Finally, in my second Soul Silver run, I wiped to Blue's Dragon Dancing Gyarados because I was too cautious. Once I wiped and the run was over, I decided to see if I could have won by being more aggressive, and I did. Which made me even more mad. The most disheartening failure of the three by far. I didn't really enjoy that run anyway, I think HGSS are the worst games to Nuzlocke. At least the originals can be turboed on an emulator easily.
