Gamefreak always says stuff like "we did [sequels][two third-versions][etc.] because we want to surprise our fans with stuff we haven't done before." Well, if they really want to surprise us, something creative like this would have been much better than "it's a third version, but there are two of them!"
But to be honest, I mostly just like this idea because the combined Sun/Moon and Diamond/Pearl name makes a ton of sense to me.
