It would never be used so it's irrelevant if they were "less cancerous"

Dealing half as much damage would be better balanced; a massive nerf but still good enough that some people would use them.

Eh, have rock type Pokemon be able to remove SR on switch-in, and I'll be happy. They shouldn't take damage, like toxic spikes and poison types.
