Pokémon must have the Alola symbol showing they were caught in the Alola region

I'm planning to try Charizard-Y and Venusaur lead on Battle Spot. Breeding them right now

They've generally been a relatively strong pairing before, and in theory they're better now due to all the fairies, Talonflame being dead, and Kangaskhan getting nerfed.

That's a good point.
For a while I had considered using M-Ampharos with Tapu Koko to try and get easy KOs on things like Mimikyu, but it didn't work as well as I'd have hoped.

The only uncertainties are
a) Which legendaries will be available
b) What new Pokémon will be introduced in USUM
c) Whether tutor moves are available

I've played against Ampharos a bunch of times and never seen it working. Abomasnow, Mawile, Slowbro and Camerupt all seem better for hard TR and Manectric is easier to use in general.

a local community is going to be hosting a VGC 2018 competition before the rules officially go in effect, so I imagine ORAS Pokemon will be legal for the sake of allowing Move Tutor moves.

The point was to make use of Mold Breaker to bypass Marowak's Lightning Rod and Mimikyu's Disguise. Manectric can't do that.

Holding it on SM and calling it VGC18 seems silly. The description they're looking for is Battle Spot Doubles. Especially given the new Ultra Beasts will probably see some use in VGC18.

Without Marowak there I'd probably just use Dazzling Gleam or Discharge from Tapu Koko, followed by the Thunderbolt from Ampharos/Manectric.
It seems an awfully specific situation to be worried about though.

Battle Spot doesn't require the black clover icon.
Other than that and the fact that some Z-moves and UBs won't be there, seems like it would work to me.

You know that USUM isn't out yet, right?
And to try and learn the ebb and flow of VGC 2018 before it's available that means that some allowances must be made to maximize availability but minimize allowing what's explicitly not allowed in VGC's rules?

Yeah, so they're having a Battlespot Doubles tournament. Call a spade a spade, there's no guarantee tutors will be in USM (or which ones), and the catchable legendaries are unknown too
