No, people know that US/UM has more differences than any other third version when compared to their predecessors. B2/W2, as sequels, should have more differences. If they didn't, then they'd be terrible sequels.

BW2 are sequels, USUM are a third version like Emerald and Platinum.

Gen 8 is likely coming to Switch sometime in 2018, and the anime is nearing the halfway point, so they needed to get Gen 7 done with.

There's also no more mythical Pokemon for this gen, so 2018's movie will probably star a Gen 8 Pokemon unless USUM introduces another one.
