It's worse than the first one.
The concept of Shadow pokemon in this game is terrible. A pokemon that have SE effects moves on pokemon that you can't catch and resists pokemon that you need to catch makes this game piss easy. Legendaries may be late gate, but Shadow pokemon steamroll everything, and they're everywhere, and due the level curve, they are overleveled.
I'm glad that they never used that concept again.

Y'know, I never even thought of that when I played the game.

Funny, now I'm trying to find a video of someone using those stratergies and all of the YouTubers I've found seem to have stuck with either their starters or purified 'mons.

I got my ass kicked against the last boss because I bit off more than I could chew trying to capture his Pokemon. For the rematch I brought Lugia. It was able to wall the last boss's Pokemon so well that I managed to catch all six of them in one battle.

I agree anon. It had its flaws sure, but it deviated from the mainline series (8 gyms then E4) in an interesting way and took core gameplay mechanics and flipped them, making it an interesting take on the series.

I really hope the switch game mixes it up like this, Colosseum and XD proved you don't need new pokemon to make a good pokemon game. Just a shame the platform they were released on didn't have the numbers to make it sell as well as it should have. If they'd put something like this on the Wii it'd flown off the shelves.

Shadow Modes don't even hit very hard, seeing as they have low base power, even though they hit regular pokemon super effectively. The only exception is Shadow End and it has such a severe downside, and is only on like 6 pokemon in the entire game.
Then you got shit like Mt. Battle where the level difference really takes a toll on the shadow pokemon and Orre Colosseum where they can't be used at all.

Excluding Shadow Blast, Bolt, Chill, and Fire, which are exclusive moves (and are seen from the opponent at the final battle, and the parts where you'd only use them are Mt. Battle where they start to outlevel you starting Area 7), we have Shadow Break, Shadow Storm and Shadow End. Shadow Break is only seen by 8 Pokemon (all on Citaldark Isle), which half of them have either average or awful attack stat. Shadow Storm which is 95 power, but gets the 25% damage cut from the double battle mechanics and is only on 10 Pokemon (2 only being seen before Citaldark Isle) and Shadow End which cuts your current HP value by half for each time its used, and is only used by 5 whole pokemon in the game as well as having terrible accuracy.
then we got the fact that shadow pokemon do not have EVs as pre Gen 5, EVs were only applied via level up. Shadow Blitz and Shadow Wave are the moves you'll see/use the for the vast majority of the game as they are the most common shadow moves, and they are absolute jokes after Lovrina as many of your pokemon will start to evolve after that point.

Did you actually had problems with that game? It's hard to take serious a post of someone who could'nt think on a simple strategy as swap your pokemon, but let's see.
Any game that gives you moves that deal SE damage to more than 90% of the mons and walls the others are easy.
And according to your post, the last part (Citadark Island) is piss easy. There's no reason to not catch all 6 final shadow mons in the last battle.

Also, about pokemon having bad movesets, this is every game in gens I-III. Starting in gen IV we got better learnsets. And the main games don't have shadow moves to help you.

Of course not, its Pokemon lmao. Also i didn't forget shadow rave since I'm considering the 25% cut as standard seeing as all battles in the game except for a very select few are double battles.
You also seem to omit that the regular Pokemon also have super effective moves they can use too. And you forget to factor that shadow moves don't run on STAB too. They do change the dynamic, but they don't steamroll the game like you claim as they do consider considerable item management, but with item management I could steamroll the game even harder with regular pokemon seeing as they have access to EVs, TMs, Move Tutors, level ups, evolutions, and consumables at all times.

You can simply ignore the type chart in that game.
It's much more braindeath easy than the main games. Complain about the power of your movers is the same of complain about Ember in the beggining of the main games.
