I'm starting to think we probably won't be getting any new Alolan formes. Perhaps it's because we haven't heard any news about it and because I'm being an impatient fuck, but it worries me that they had the perfect opportunity to showcase new Johto-related Alolan formes when GS released on the VC but they didn't.

If there's seriously not any new Alolan formes, I wonder what's the real point of making USUM? To expand the story? That's it?

Stop this meme, they're literally leaving the main flaw in (Festival Plaza). They aren't "fixing" anything, they're just charging full price for barely any new content because they know they can get away with it.

Wtf you talking about, when lycanrock, necrozma and 20th movie pikachu are forms that dont exist in SM

If there were Alolan forms, I suspect it would be for pokemon that are not in the Alolan Dex in Sun and Moon. For instance, everyone was pissed about Bellossom not being in the dex, but they could have set it aside for an Alolan form in this game.
That way there won't be any conflict between 'normal' forms in SM and regional forms in USUM

if they can make it so anyone battling using the new forms doesn't get matched up with people using older games, then i'm fairly certain they could program it so that exclusive forms on the gts won't be shown to people playing older games.

Also there's canon issues that GF usually try to avoid.
If I breed Sandshrew in Sun, it will result in an Alolan Sandshrew egg.
Say Remoraid got an Alolan form. If I bred a Remoraid in Sun, it would result in a regular Johto Remoraid egg. But if I bred that same egg in Ultra Sun, it'd be an Alolan Remoraid.
It's the same reason they added a bunch of stupid evolution methods in Gen IV, and why there'll never be cross gen evolutions again (huh, eviolite didn't use to boost my Sunflora's defenses?!?)

I think the only instances this hasn't been upheld are Lickitung and Piloswine

It was really stupid how they handled Alola Form breeding. Should've just been treated like its own species the exact same way they handled Shellos, Basculin, Pumpkaboo, and Minior. According to GF logic, black people will have Japanese babies if they have kids in Japan.

Also Oricorio forms should've been permanent forms so they could get better movepools like T.Wave for Pom-Pom and Will-O-Wisp for Baile and Sensu.

To use up the rest of the assets they had ready or almost ready since they'll be switching over to the Switch after this. The Pokemon models and animations are future-proofed but everything else isn't. So they figure they might as well use everything they have and make a few extra bucks off of it.

It'll probably be the worst-selling mainline game but it won't really matter because they still won't end up operating at a loss.
