Gardevoir is a mimic/succubus that shapeshifts to take a form humans find endearing, then it feeds off of that emotional bond. The crystal/horn is the "true" pokemon, the rest is just fleshy, tertiary material.
Less sinister than it sounds like in practice; the feeding is harmless, it isn't neccesarilly preying on weird shit like lust, and at least to begin with as Ralts, the process is automatic and a defense mechanism to appear like the young of a potentially dangerous predator.
