Why are they all just copies of gen 1 mons?

No it's showing how parallel and convergent/divergent evolutions are a thing in real life

Different species performing the same ecological niche translates to different species performing similar competitive niche in pokemon

Different pokemon arising from a shared ancestor or completely unrelated pokemon looking similar due to evolution of similar beneficial anatomy and physiology to perform their similar roles better

Found this while lurking on twitter the other day . Also I noticed Volcarona is supposed to be the new arcanine, they were both supposed to be legendary and both have the same base stats.

3 flying type legendary trio to match the 3 flying type legends of gen 1

Even the games themselves are named after colors to match Gen 1.

A lot of these are forced comparisons. Comparing the ekans line to snivy line is ridiculous they function differently and have different amounts of evo stages and different typings. If anything, Snivy line should be compared to Bulbasaur line since every gen has starters. Otherwise, where are the people complaining about Seviper when we already have the ekans line. Or the people complaining about the mudkip line when we had the wooper line a generation prior

Remove bottom two rows of that pic and you have yourself a solid pokemon generation. I find it funny how people always bring up the ice cream cone and garbage bag when genies and digifusion leges exist in the same gen.

Example: Arcanine and Stoutland are in different parts of the game, have different types, and don't have the same styles of battle. Lillipup's available at the beginning of the game, while Growlithe wasn't available until what, Cinnabar?

They were still looking for their style. There's a reason why we dont have a jynx in every generation and the more humanoid designs they've released since are a lot less uncanny valley. The sprite art for gen1 - as fun to look at as it is - isn't really the style we associate with pokemon today.

Musharna is not hypno.

it's new the clefable as that its round and Pink (predicted by that Gen 1 NPC in the original games), and from a different world just like clefable. and similar base stats

hydreigon is the new dodrio in the fact that its a pokemon that goes from 2 heads to 3. every gen has a pseudo so no its not the new dragonite.
