Then just have patience. I actually miss hunting down roaming legends rather than catching only static legends all back to back. The Kanto birds in XY was shit though. At least the UBs were closer to the old method, but idk why they had to abandon the mechanic.

This legit happened to me as a kid. Encountered a shiny Geodude and had no space for it. Rage beyond words, it was the only shiny I had encountered besides the red Gyarados.

The awful work that it took for me to get my "catcher" Smeargle (Spider Web, Spore, Super Fang, False Swipe) in HGSS all those years ago was the best Pokemon related investment I ever made, but it's still a pain.

i did exactly this and only this for 3 or 4 days after beating red and ended up just quitting the game altogether. even went back to burned tower multiple times to double and triple check that they had been released.

I havent bought any VC game yet, do the Pokeballs you use to catch the RBYGS Pokemon stay the same when transferred to SM or change into Pokeball?

No, all Pokemon caught in RBYGS(C) transferred to the Pokemon Bank will appear as being caught in standard pokeballs, because the games themselves didn't remember that information.

If you've already seen them, what you can do is go to any route (I like 36/37 the best), save, and reset. Check their location, and if they're on the save route as you, run into the grass and throw a cloned Master Ball at them.

I think XY did it well, you still have to chase them down but at the end you get a proper chance to battle and catch it. Chasing roamers was the fun part, not throwing a ball turn 1 and then they flee and you have to search again to throw one ball.

I've been using this strategy for about 10 hours and I've only found Suicune. Catching them once you've seen them isn't too much of an issue, but finding them for the first time is down to bullshit luck. No-one can defend it, the best they can come up with is "it werks for me lol".

Sometimes roamers are hard as fuck to encounter at all, but it's fun to hunt them down anyway. But not when I have to do it 16 times, imo. That was my gripe with XY, but honestly it's not THAT bad, I just prefer it not force me to chase and encounter it 16 times before I can actually battle/catch it.

Throwing balls at roamers and then fleeing was annoying, sure, but that's why I only use my masterballs on roamers.

I don't recall having any difficulty catching all 3 in the original games. Now about 100 hours of gameplay after they were released from Burned Tower, and I haven't even bumped into one of them roaming yet.

As a kid, I never did find my Raikou, so I couldn't track it. I ultimately had to trade my little brother my extra master ball, since he randomly encountered the thing. I mean, I could have tracked my own after getting his Raikou, but I already had it.
