Did you even pay attention in grade school earth science class? Due to their young age and igneous geology islands preserve very few fossils. Most such remains are creatures like relatively recent corals and molluscs that lived in the area when sea levels were higher than they are today. So practically any fossils you’d manage to get you’d be able to get their living self as well quite easily.

Anon, Gen 11 was the ONLY time remakes ever had new mons. I don't see why Shimmering Sun and Marvelous Moon would suddenly add more fossilmons.

What's even the appeal of fossilmons as a whole? We get Pokemon based off extinct animals either way, like we did with Decidueye and Jangmo-o. And all fossilmons aren't even based on extinct animals anyway like Kabuto and Lileep.

You want Rock-types that barely look rock related? Enjoy Lycanroc and Nihilego.
