>>33843573The balance between her and the MC is strange as fuck. Lillie is clearly the protagonist of the story, yet the game focuses around you and doesn't move without you. It is best described as you being a literal manifestation of Lillie's ID that eats, fights, and shits for her. This causes the focus of the game to get strange at times, as the hours you are watching Lillie fuck around ARE important to her story, but the game is still centered around you. It's almost like GF couldn't decide between characterized protagonist that interacts with the story, or silent, assumed heroic main character type, and instead compromised in the most awkward and dysfunctional way imaginable.
Additionally, the game distorts around her in a way characteristic of the worst kinds of sue. She is somehow able to traverse Alola with no pokemon and nothing bad ever happens to her. Every time she starts a fight she can't finish, nobody ever calls her out. Hell, even the fact that Lillie fufills her entire story without ever raising a pokeball so that when she finally does set out to become a trainer it is all the more shocking reeks of purity sue.
>>33843597Legitimately cute, and endearing at her core, once you strip away the layers of shit writing. Her story actually isn't terrible (Not good by any means, but passable) when it isn't being forced down your throat every few minutes.
Her strange handling feels a bit more clever for a moment when you start running with the idea of MC and Lillie really being one individual from a story perspective, but this is ultimately only good for a novelty, not actually being good.
Overall I think she's a potentially interesting experiment gone horribly, horribly wrong.
