When people talk about the bad Programming, they mean shit like the utter lack of optimization that led to constant frame drops in gens 6 and 7. Or the fact that almost none of the Apricorn Balls do what they're supposed to in Gen 2 (Loveball bonus is only on Pokemon of the same gender when the text states the opposite, instead of Moonball working on Pokemon that evolve via moonstone it looks for Pokemon that evolve via Burn Heal, which is none and it in effect has no use), or the myriad issues in gen 1 that led to Greatballs being better than Ultraballs in some situations or that Focus Energy actually reduces your fucking critical hit chance.
GF are terrible programmers by anyone who actually understands what it fucking means. Its just that the terrible programming didn't get in the way of enjoying the game enough for it to be a success.
