I think you should try giving them something more. Don't base them in only single thing. After all, there's a reason
>implying pokemon can't be based in more than one conceptis used so much when people talk here about the origins of a pokemon.
The elephant/mammoth is the best idea. You should try to give it more visual representation of the electric type, though. Magmatary looks more like a fire-fighting type than electric.Trunfire suffers from being too generic, too.
Grass iguana is the worst offender. "It's just gets bigger" and "muh spikes". Mind you, spikes aren't a bad thing, but going for something different when it comes to the iguana while maintaining what makes an iguana would have been better. Maybe something among the lines of iguana > iguana/komodo dragon> komodo dragon would have been better. Of course, keeping enough stuff from the previous animal so it doesn't feel like a completely different pokemon.
The birds are pretty generic, but I could see Gruidew and Tsunakra being in a game. The only line that represents visually what type it is; the problem is that it does it too much, which doesn't fit a starter pokemon. As a line consisting of the two I mentioned earlier, it isn't as much of a problem, but it still should be toned down.
