It's because some people, myself included, hate the Switch and don't want to buy one. I'm personally going to just wait until Switch emulation becomes a thing before playing its Pokémon games, I will never purchase a console with paid online.

You're going to be waiting 7 to 9 years before Switch emulation becomes good enough, and by then, the next handheld/console will be coming out. And by then, you'll be playing games everyone already played 5 years ago. Not to mention the fact that you won't be getting online with your emulation, either.

I don't expect it. I also don't expect Switch emulation to take that long, it'll probably be closer to five years until it becomes good enough to play a JRPG due to Nintendo's weaker hardware. I'll probably play some Showdown in the meantime though, I already use it instead of playing online on cart.

I used to believe they'd release the next game in both consoles, or at least make an inferior 3ds version for us poorfags, now all hope is officially gone, if I want to keep playing Pokémon I have to get the Switch, a console that:
1) Sucks, it's released mid-late ganeration, and still leagues behind its competitors.
2) Somehow forces me to get a Nintendo home console, which imo suck since the N64 and all I cared about were their handhelds.
3) Costs around 700 dollars where I live, same ammount I pay for 2 and half months of my rent.

Calm down, no need to shill so aggressively. I played a lot of online with my Wii U in games like Splatoon, I value online play in general, just not with Pokémon, where I care a lot more about the single player experience and can go to Showdown for the rare occasion I get the itch to battle another person, since I don't have to spend a large amount of time breeding and don't have to inject.
I could easily afford the Switch's online, as well as the PS4's/XBone's online, but I refuse to support any console that charges any amount of money for online play. It's a "vote with your wallet" thing.

Also, in the hipotetical case Switch games are actually gen 8, I'm sure that's gonna be the shortest gen ever, even shorter than 5 and 7, as a new console generation is coming and they'll have to release something new. If this works, they will keep doing this forever, cause they'll realize Nintendo can sell two consoles in the time Sony and Xbox sell one, and still have some success.

Do people not realise that when the inevitable price drop on switch happens it'll be around 200 bucks easy? Granted it's doing so well I don't see it happening till late 2018 or even early 2019. Regardless the switch is here to stay and I'm happy with my purchase.
