In addition to Fight/Item/Pokemon/Run, there's a "Dodge" option, that lets you move your Pokemon within a set radius, depending on species (using a now-visible Evasion stat).
To combat this, each move gets an Area of Effect, in the form of an updated Accuracy rating. So high-accuracy moves get a high AOE, but low-accuracy ones get a narrow range.
If you've got a small, agile Pokemon (eg Pikachu), you can move further (and avoid more hits) than bigger Pokemon (ie Raichu).
Speed gets characterized as "reaction time" rather than physical agility, to help differentiate it from Evasion's "how far you can sprint in half a second" role.
Battles are now less simplistic, require (some) strategy beyond "guess what move the opponent will use", and NFE Pokemon have a viable niche, which will lead to a greater variety of mons being considered for competitive play.
