I really hate how people distort Karen's quote, it makes sense in universe because there are no stats to make a Pokémon objectively stronger than the other, the anime and manga showed unevolved shitmon not jobbing by being fast and using their moves in creative ways, Karen's quote makes sense under these circumstances just like all the NPCs talking about friendship and bonding with your pokémon as if that meant anything
