False Swipe is very important though. I have yet to see a move this important in pokemon because False Swipe was/is what I used/use to weaken a pokemon without killing them.

Because those are the Pokemon currently in my party in my rerun of Pokemon Sun and Moon. I was bewildered that not a single one of them could learn it then remembered that I was dealing with Gamefreak here and went back to EV training my Chinchou.

I relied really heavily on False Swipe in Gen VI, not having anything on my team in Sun that could use it was quite refreshing, it was nice to add a tiny bit of challenge and risk back in considering it was only the Gen VII Pokémon I needed at that point so there was less capturing overall to do.

It's not like you absolutely need False Swipe. Just use Dragon Rage and Night Shade. Those won't accidentally kill the opponent with criticals either.
