If you play through a pokemon game with this option set to shift and not set you have literally no right to complain that the game is too easy.

If having to make smarter switches or getting forced to heal more often to survive isn't harder, then what is? If the default option was "Set", and you could choose to change it to "Switch", which gives you the opportunity to counter your opponent's next Pokemon instantly, no turn or damage penalty, would you argue that it isn't easier?

I don't even understand why people would want to be told by the game which pokemon a trainer is going to send out next. That's not how pokemon battles work with other players, it's not how it works in the manga or anime, it's just unnecessary hand-holding.

I agree about the battle with other players part, but I distinctly remember in the anime various parts where the trainer would send out a Pokemon and then just stand there as Ash chooses what he'll use.
