We all know that gen 2 starters are shit in battles, fix them with a mega with new stats (please keep the +120 on overall stats like other starters' mega), typing, moves and ability

Now learns U-Turn

Speed helps it set up screens faster, and U-Turn can help it pivot into something frailer after its set up screens. Regenerator allows it to reset screens more effectively. Additional Electric typing makes it has less weaknesses as a whole, allowing it to take hits more effectively.

i remember it said its only electric because its fur got dry and filled with static, however a natural basis for the electric type could be volcanic lightning. either way, adding electric is unique unlike the constant fire/ground ones people keep making

That's not what I'm referring to, anon. You're giving it a typing that it can't effectively use. Meganium doesn't know any Electric-type moves. Furthermore, Electric-type is pretty mediocre defensively. The only weakness you remove is Flying-type while simultaneously removing its Ground-type resistance (which is much more useful). Steel-type resistance isn't really useful either.

Seriously, why the fuck would you give it that typing? Did you just flip a coin or some shit?

I first decided to make it Grass/Normal, but decided against it having yet another weakness. 4 weaknesses and 3 resistances is better then 5 weaknesses and 2 resistances, so I figured that would work best.
Grass/Rock was taken by OP, Grass/Fairy and Grass/Ground. has that glaring 4x weakness to Poison/Ice, and Grass/Fire is weak to sneaky pebbles.
Grass/Water and Grass/Poison could work I suppose, but those aren't nearly as cool typings (+we already have Venusaur).

That's a stupid as fuck reason especially since the weakness it exchanges for the resistances aren't worth it. Resisting Ground is far better than resisting Steel and being neutral to Flying. Plus, you still refuse to address the fact that it can't use any attacks with the type. Electric is an offensive typing, yet you're giving it to a Pokemon that can't even use it. Fuck, you don't even give it Galvanize so it can spam STAB Electric-type Return with that nice attack.

The bit about its fur came from trying to build upon the "devastating move" its Pokedex entries bring up, while the dry skin was intended to be a consequence. I do like the volcanic lightning explanation better, though.

I didn't make this with offense in mind. Did you gloss over the fact about me deliberately mentioning screens support? I wanted to make it Defensively oriented (aka STAB is taking a backseat, because I want to give Meganium a niche).
I suppose that makes Mega Aggron bad too because it no longer has STAB on its Rock type moves.

Why the fuck would you use this over Aurora Veil for screens? How is it defensively oriented to neutralize its most important resistance? Why would you use your mega slot just to set up screens, without even access to light clay, mental herb etc? This thing is all over the place.

Please look at Meganium's existing movepool.
Dragon Tail to deter setup
Magic Coat to stop opposing leads.
If I just focus on offenses, then it'd be even more usless because offense Megas already exist. A Support Mega that actually works would at least give it a niche instead of hiding in the shadows of something else better in every way.
A-Nintales is way frailer and has tons of weaknesses. Something bulky that can deter both setup and other leads would make it stand out.

Clefable rarely sets up, and there are plenty of things that can switch into Magearna.

I considered Grass/Fairy, but that would probably be a tad much with Calm Mind. I also considered Aroma Veil, but Flower Veil gives it a more thematic and interesting niche in Doubles/VGC. In all, I tried to keep it realistic.

Mega Meganium: Grass/Dragon or Grass/Fire, giving it some access to moves from those types, of course. Focus mostly on attack and make it an "unbeatable in Harsh Sunlight" champion even if it requires an original ability.
Mega Typhlosion: Fire/Dark, Fire/Ground or Fire/Rock. Also needs access to better moves in those types. Minmaxed Speed and Special Attack. Probably a great ability like Sheer Force too.
Mega Feraligator: Water/Dragon, Water/Fighting or Water/Dark. Bulky build to ensure it can pull off a couple Dragon Dances to sweep.

It has ok, if not acceptably adequate moves. I just stuck the psychic on because I saw it had a Psychic type move, and Meganium has even less of a reason to be Rock type now. Ice Gator is because it has some good Ice moves.

I'm more confused about Strong Jaw. It's such a shit-tier ability. Like it works on Mega Sharpedo and Bruxfish because Psychic Fangs and Crunch are actually pretty damn powerful with Strong Jaw and STAB but Ice Fang is fucking pathetic even with the boost.

Also that Typhlosion is incredibly random.
