I genuinely believe most of the skill involved in competitive Pokemon just comes down to being willing to just use the best Smogon approved OPmons instead of Pokemon you enjoy, which most don't want to do.

Long, long ago, my little newfag. I think it stopped being seriously enforced about three or four years ago. I'm pretty sure it coincided with the decision to stop public bannings because it "disrupted conversation." That's my guess though.

It used to be that everyone was assumed to either have completed the dex or in the middle of completing it. Posting that you refused to do it, even if it's refusing to catch the one Pokemon that you hate the most, would get you banned.
