Pokemon like Golduck and Clefable had "common" abilities when their abilities were signature, and heaps of Pokemon with signature abilities got hidden abilities in Gen V (funnily enough, Kecleon is an example of Pokemon with a signature ability that didn't get a hidden ability)
My issue is more that its pre-evolutions have HAs and a damn good one in Lightningrod. It has this in common with Vibrava and Flygon, who lose Sheer Force (which would do wonders for Flygon); Kakuna, Metapod and Pupitar (who all regain HAs upon evolving) and Shedinja.
The only case where the reverse is true is Ferroseed.
