I haven't played the TCG since Fossil, what official/unofficial formats are there?

I could I get my shit pushed in tomorrow with an old deck or would I have to buy a starter deck to get creamed?

That card sucks ass but I lost to this scrub that played Lunala Gx, Baby lunala, and Toxapex GX. He didn't evrn have leles for consistency and use shauna/teirno for draw supporters. he had 4 Acerolla and used them all to recover his pokemon while he nailed mine with super toxin. That loss was devastating I had 7 ways to switch out of the poison status but I could only 2 shot his mons while he kept recovering hp

You don't flip for poison. It remains until you switch the pokemon to the bench or use another effect (ability, trainer, attack) to remove the status condition. But it is guaranteed damage counters in between turns. So you basically put them on a one turn time clock to deal with the situation, or give you prizes.

But good luck getting 3 energy committed to Toxapex before the more competitive decks knock it out. Our first League Cup did have a Toxapex/Garbodor/max elixir deck the made Top 8. That was before guzma came out though. The meta is just too fast for this card and most lists have plenty of ways to retreat.

This card sucks, also the base set was way more broken, the "powercreep" in fact was needed to make useless some cards that otherwise would have dominated forever.

Poison, Bug, Rock, Ground, Flying, Ice, and Ghost don't exist as Types in the TCG, and Dragon didn't exist either until fairly recently.

Grass represents Grass and Bug-Types, and until the Diamond & Pearl set, Poison.
Water represents itself and Ice.
Fighting represents itself, Rock, and Ground.
Psychic represents itself, Ghost, and as of Diamond & Pearl, Poison. Presumably because they're all purple.
Colorless represents Normal, Flying, and until Dragons Exalted, Dragon.

Also no, all Weedle cards so far are Grass, and all Stunky cards are Darkness (Dark).
