I had to restart my Theta Emerald Nuzlocke due to a glitch that prevented me from progressing by deleting all my TM's/HM's.

Forget my starter, Butterfree's where it's at. Holy crap, Hida is just walking through most of this game so far. He beat every trainer and the Gym Leader of Brawly's gym without having to leave or get any items. It's insane, he's a monster.

Well, little update.

I defeated Elesa and Clay. Pachamama was clearly the MVP against Elesa and Ganaskidi against Clay. Ganaskidi almost die tho, but he claimed the victory over Excadrill with a crit. Searing shot.

Now I'm going to Chargestone cave and hoping to catch any electric o rock type Pokémon, otherwise I'll be in troubles in the Mistralton Gym.

Apparenlt a Minior with Shell Smash cannot one shot a Growlithe. And apparently Growlithe gets Reversal in this game. And apparently, Minior dies to that. Who knew?!
After the Diglett's Tunnell. Akala Island has been devstating so far. Everyone of my mons (except Pichu) has died here.
This is a semi blind run though. I'm also enjoying Sun this time around too!
Grinding for Olivia. Trying to make Ledian usable.

Ledian will die soon. I can feel it

Hida is still amazing. I had caught an Onix, which I levelled up to face Wattson, but he died to a Swift crit from his Minun. Luckily, Hida is still a complete monster and 1-shot the rest of his pokemon with Bug Buzz except for Mangeton, which took 2 hits. Butterfree is so much better in later gens it's scary.

Tragedy strikes in the Burned Tower, lost my Pidgeotto AND my Sandshrew to my rival's Quilava; critical ember offed sandshrew and some spam wiped out pidgeotto
Replaced them with an Abra and a Staryu (Good rod is my friend)

Grabbed TMs for Fire, Ice, and Thunder punches and dumped them on Abra, given their special nature in this gen. (Also taught it to Geodude for a little coverage if I'm stuck against something grass or steel)

Another update, don't know where to get a Water Stone so I boxed my Staryu instantly.
Caught a Magmar in the Burned tower basement.
Beat the Ghost gym without any casualties but it was so close, his Gengar was level 25 against my 22 Kadabra, Shadow ball took him down to 2hp. Butterfree switched in, got 3 failures on enemy Gengars Hypnosis and Confusioned him out.

Update again
heading to Lake of Rage right now, but holy shit have I felt underleveled throughout so far.
My current team levels are
Kadabra - 30
Tentacruel - 23
Bayleef - 25
Magmar - 26
Butterfree - 24
Graveller - 25

Beating the last gym's Steelix was so tricky and I almost lost several pokemon to it. Kadabra and Magmar switching out for Fire Punch sealed the deal.
Noticing wild pokemon that are STILL level 15 around, where am I supposed to grind? I don't remember this being such a big deal when I was a kid.

It was about as expected, I lost both Butterfree and Tentacruel trying to subdue the Gyarados. I ended up catching it just fine after they died, but now I have a hole in my team that one pokemon can't fill.

My current team now is as follows:
Kadabra - Level 30
Graveller - Level 25
Gyarados - Level 30
Bayleef - Level 25
Magmar - Level 26

now I need to choose a boxmon to finish my team so I could seriously use some input

My boxed mons are:
Drowzee, Mankey, Machop, Girafarig, Growlithe, Zubat, Onix (trade from earlier for my bellsprout), Togepi egg, Poliwag, Gloom, Raticate, and Staryu.

Or would it be smarter to wait it out and instead try to catch something somewhere else? I haven't been inside Mt. Mortor yet for example.

I beat Olivia easily. No party changes. Was actually quite easy but I have Dewott and Lapras for that side of it all.

So here I am, wrecking everything in my path. I had Adoradeer pretty strong, and he was laying waste in the Aqua hideout. Aqua Admin Matt brings out a ferrothorn, so I switch to Jump Kick and do about 2/3rd's of his HP. Ferrothorn explodes. I now no longer have a grass-type, so Hida's energy ball is really now needed.

Been a few threads since I posted an update, captured and lost a Spearow I was going to use as a fly slave, lost my bulbasaur to trying the grass Celadon gym without anything strong against grass, and I lost Georgette to some real dumb choices in the pokemon tower. Have I mentioned I haven't played pokemon since Gold and silver? Having great fun though.

Update:
Just cleared the Goldenrod Radio Tower. Had a really rough time with some of the Executives but Kadabra and Jynx did most of the work, on the last one a really strong Faint Attack from his Houndoom killed my Gyarados. Not sure what I'm gonna do to fill the last slot now.
Current levels in order on the trainercard:
32, 33, 34, 34, 35

One more update before I take another break
Got the Rising Badge from Clair, a mix of Lovely Kiss and Ice Punch allowed my Jynx to solo the entire gym with no switches.
Caught a Dratini in the Dragon Den but not sure if I want to raise it from level 12.
I don't know if I should continue to the Kanto gyms/E4/Red on this nuzlocke or if I should stop after becoming champion here.

Beat the Elite 4 in Theta Emeral with this team.

Flo is a shiny Jellicent that surprisingly didn't die on me.

Ancient is with Moxie pretty much swept the E4 single handedly with some help.

Sadly JJ, the tank of the team died to Wallace :(

Was fun to play tho after the mid-game the team I had was pretty much set and I was did not really feel like training the other water types (more than 2/3 my box) caught.

Good luck to other playing this, it's fun.

holy fucking shit, just finished my Nuzlocke. I won but at such an intense cost.
Kadabra ate a Sludge Bomb from Koga's Muk and didn't stand a chance.
Meganium took a Wing Attack by Koga's Crobat and it crit.
Staryu (I swapped in for HM slavery to get here) ate a Dig from Bruno's Hitmontop (it's better than letting another pokemon eat it).
Karen's Houndoom wiped Graveller out with Crunch.
Magmar, after Thunderpunching through Lance's Gyarados took a Rock Slide from his Aerodactyl and died.

Jynx was the sole survivor of the run, dodging a Rock slide from his Aerodactyl; Survived a Flamethrower from his Charizard, and proceeded to 1shot EVERY SINGLE POKEMON HE HAD WITH ICE PUNCH

fucking kill me this was way harder than I expected

Everybody that isn't a filthy casual knows you don't beat gold/silver til you beat Red. In my experience, most people end it after a wipe. However, the rules don't specifically say it's over after a wipe, so I suppose you can keep going until all your Pokemon are dead, if you can tolerate a lot of grinding.

Well, after the Driftveil city gym I lost my beautiful Artemisa by a critical Signal beam, so I decided to catch some electric or rock type Pokémon at Chargestone cave but I killed my first encounter, so, no Pokémon for me, and at route 7 I get a Zangoose, which I means I was in a big trouble because I did not have a single Pokémon super effective against Skyla. So, I took out de Solosis (aka Caelus) and trained him till evolved, luckily he knows Shockwave so there I had something to used. I trained my team a little bit more and go against de bitchy pilot and won just by a hair. Now I'm going to the other side of the region hoping to catch some ice type to go against Drayden.

Time for a very late update, forgot to do updates between my trips to gather pokemon from old routes and conquer gyms. Now that I've lost Garados (To a cunting Snorlax, hence why I named the one I caught Shitcunt) I will have to catch a water pokemon at the sea route to surf. Also caught and lost my newest fly slave (Clotheater) in the process, he died spamming his one psychic move to get me through the poison gym for the soul badge. This playthrough has been a mess of fault, oh shit, and Nox being the hardest of carries. I have that eevee but man I am real stand-offish about evolving it since it can be a filler for whatever I lose between now and the elite 4, although if I can't find a vulpix at the pokemon mansion I have no choice but to make it a flareon

Update:
Progress is slow, painfully so
Dragonair is level 31 and the grind is borderline painful, but knowing it takes so much more experience to level I wanted it out of the way.
Grimer is a fresh catch in Celadon in the small pond and is level 20
Gloom is 26
Girafarig is 15
Dodrio is 32
and Jynx is 52
I might be dying, once I'm back in Kanto I'll take out Surge just for the sake of it.

I'd also have to pick up an actual oddish instead of just my Gloom, which might pose its own issue. I do have a Growlithe and a Staryu so either of them might be able to join the team comfortably in case of setbacks.

Ledian and Carbink both got caught up in the onslaught that is Hau's Raichu. Because of this, Ive brought in Ribombee and Gyarados. Robombee is really fun to use, but gyarados does just bring in more of an electric weakness. I now have 3 water types on my team... And its now an electric Trial. I've fitted Gumshoos with Rock Tomg, but I fear that's not going to cut it.
There are more pokemon to add to the box, however, I can't remember what they are..

Didn't even catch it, guess I'm stuck with a Gloom. Unless he asks for different pokemon on occasion but he seems set on Lickitung right now.

Update:
Finally have all of my pokemon in the 30's and I just beat Surge; gonna head over and see if I can farm some levels for Dodrio on Erika's gym.

Took out Koga's kid and Sabrina, up to 4 Kanto badges.
Not sure where to get the Pokeflute so I can't get into Diglett's cave, so I don't see how I'm gonna make it back to Pallet, Pewter, and Viridian. Can't go south from Fuschia so no Cinnabar for now either, guess I'll go check out Lavender or something.

Took a Horn Drill from a Rhyhorn and lost my Gloom as well, glad I didn't use Sludge bomb on it now I guess.
