Old school muk looks like it's from resident evil, and that's what I miss from the new artwork and styles. Pokemon these days are presented as cute and cuddly when in reality most of them are the straight opposite, and the watercolor artwork captured that.

Gengar was always a darker shade of purple with a lighter shade of purple outline and red eyes. It was just the art styles of the sprites that didn't allow for that
