>>33939255Because the story is mediocre and boring. The draw to Pokemon is a bunch of things to catch and raise, friends to battle, and a world to explore. All of this pretty much just boils down to gameplay, not story. It doesn't help that Pokemon has very cookie-cutter, mediocre storylines - stuff that's obviously aimed at children rather than adults. Compare this to the gameplay which, while still easy to get into, has enough depth to be played at least somewhat seriously.
If you really want to play a game with a large, expansive story (whether in forced cutscenes or bits and pieces), then you're better off playing something else. Pokemon isn't known for compelling storylines, it's known for you exploring the region and catching a bunch of monsters.
