I want the games to evolve same way every other franchise did, not just add more stuff to the same game from 1996

Just so we are clear, I loved the Megas, I loved the Fairy type and all other things they did, but ultimately they didn't change anything about the games.

Also trials. People just like shitting on gen VI and VII because they're the newest ones. Over time everyone will love them and whatever's current will be the next worst thing. Pokemon's popularity comes from it's formula. The battle system, gyms, legendaries, pokemon league, 10 year old protag from a small town, evil team, etc will always mostly the same.

The Zelda cycle doesn't apply to Pokemon. Prior to Gen 6, the newest gen was the one everyone loved the most.

OP here, I think you misunderstand, I'm not talking about the latest games, I'm talking about the whole series, every game after the first one.

Megas, Z-Moves, Trials - in any other game series these things would not even be considered an innovation, but just a new content in a new game.

Its a mix of 50/50, Odissey hoenstly feels more like a collec-a-thon than a a plattformer.

Only BotW was the biggest risk since OoT, all the games before BotW were copypasting OoT formula and adding more elements from the adventure genre. It was after the turd sales of Spirit Tracks and Skyward Sword that they decided to make a deserved biggest change.
Tl;dr
Like many said before, the series needs serious competition and their titles suffering poor sales in order to motivate the developers to introduce an improvement for the games

Nintendo is a company. They don't give a shit about change. If a formulaic game consistently makes millions then they will happily sit on their asses and let it do so without interfering rather than risk changing it and having it backfire on them.
