I can't imagine this going well. I see it a a two axis graph: you have the vertical axis of it being good or bad and the horizontal axis of it being succesful or unsuccesful.
If it's unsuccesful in any way, then it will be blamed on the fact that it's on a new system and has a low player base. So if it's bad, they won't learn from it, but also if it's good, they will instead interpret it as that people didn't like the game. So if it's unsuccesful in any way, then it's a loss for the fans, because they won't learn from it.
If it's succesful and bad... you can imagine how that will play out. The next 3 years at least will follow in its footsteps. Yikes. But if it's succesful and good? They'll think they can be lazy because of their previous success, or they'll rip off the succesful one and make another lazy one.
We can't punish them for being lazy and we can't afford to have it fail because either way it will be a bad outcome. If it's succesful they'll abuse its success either way.
This is a loss/loss/loss/loss situation.
